Calling all BAOT/UNISON Stewards – Vacancy for a steward to sit on RCOT’s England Country Board for the period 2020 – 2023

The Royal College of Occupational Therapists’ England Country Board is seeking to appoint a BAOT/UNISON steward to fill its Industrial Relations seat for the period 2020 to 2023.

This is a key opportunity for a BAOT/UNISON steward, in practice in England, to influence the profession and help provide strategic leadership on matters of policy, practice and membership.  The role of the Industrial Relations rep is to help ensure good links between the Royal College of Occupational Therapists and UNISON, and to bring a trade union perspective to discussions.

The outgoing Industrial Relations rep, Cathryn Holding, said: “I have thoroughly enjoyed my time on the Board. I will greatly miss the dynamic and collaborative nature of the meetings, which cover a wide range of health policy issues of relevance and interest to Occupational Therapists.”

Cathryn is happy to talk about her experience to anyone who is thinking of applying for the role and wants to know more – we can put you in touch with her.

The Board is made up of eight members who maintain an occupational therapy focus on key policy areas such as vocational rehabilitation, social care policy, public health, personalisation and commissioning.  The Board meets three times per year at the RCOT offices in London, and your travel expenses are reimbursed.  The successful candidate will take up the role with effect from July 2020.

Board membership offers you a great CPD opportunity to further develop your skills and knowledge – and your learning can be used as evidence for re-registration with the HCPC.  If you are interested in putting yourself forward for this opportunity, please contact June Chandler at UNISON j.chandler@unison.co.uk by no later than 31 March 2020.
