Our next London Region forum for occupational therapy shop stewards will be on Monday 2nd October. Here are the details supplied by our new regional organiser, Matt Rowley:

All BAOT members are members of UNISON and as part of that joint working relationship UNISON Greater London Region organises an OT Forum three times a year. This Forum is open to all BAOT Stewards and Contacts and you are invited to attend the Forum being held on MONDAY 2 OCTOBER 2017 9.30am-12.30pm at UNISON Centre, 130 Euston Road, London NW1. Refreshments will be available from 9.15 am. The Forum will include:

  • UNISON update – June Chandler, National Officer, UNISON Health Group
  • Report back from National OT Panel Reps
  • General discussion on issues being faced by OTs and what’s happening in their workplaces
  • Planning for future OT Forum meetings

Thanks to my predecessor Jackie Loudoun, who has now retired, over the last year attendance at the Forum has increased, with new OT stewards coming along to improve their skills and knowledge. I’m looking forward to working with you all as the new lead in Greater London Region for the OT Forum. Although you will have been on training courses, sometimes OT stewards feel isolated in their branch and this Forum provides an excellent opportunity to meet others, share experiences and to get support and advice from the Forum to help your development. Please register your attendance and any access requirements by emailing Matt Rowley at the UNISON Regional Office m.rowley@unison.co.uk or by calling Matt on 0207 535 6660 – by no later than Monday 18th September 2017. This Forum provides Occupational Therapists in London with an opportunity to discuss professional and workplace issues, please try and attend!
